Man awarded seven years imprisonment in dowry death case

A local court has sentenced a man to seven years of imprisonment for burning his sister-in-law to death over dowry issue in a five year old case.
The judge of the fast track court, Shyam Kumar has also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Shekhu.
According to Assistant District Government Council, Sajid Rana, the woman Sabina, was burnt to death by her in-laws over dowry at Kandhla town in Shamli district on January 26, 2010.
The woman had accused her in-laws of setting her ablaze over dowry, in a statement before the magistrate before she died.
A case was registered against her husband Dheekhu, father-in-law Gulzar and sister-in-law Tahira.
While Shekhu was arrested, the remaining three are still absconding, Rana said.
