Man beaten to death in Gaya

A man was beaten to death by people belonging to rival group after he opened fire in which a girl was injured at Mandar village in Bihar's Gaya district, police said today.
Town Superintendent of Police Avkash Kumar said that the deceased has been identified Vikas Singh (50) who is the son of Pipra estate's landlord Mayan Singh.
The incident occurred at a 'Yajna' organised by one Satyendra Singh of Mandar village yesterday where Vikas Singh, had gone to attend the 'Yajna', the Town SP said.
After having a heated argument over some issue with Satyendra Singh, Vikas allegedly opened fire in which Satyendra's daughter Gudiya sustained bullet injury in her leg, that enraged Satyendra and his supporters who beat Vikas to death last night, SP said.
The body has been handed over to the deceased's family after post-mortem at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital, Gaya, the SP said adding that injured Gudiya has also been admitted to the medical college and hospital for treatment. She is out of danger, he added.
Sushil Kumar Singh, BJP MP of Aurangabad and a large number of local people visited hospital and consoled Mayan Singh and his family members, SP said.
Satyendra Singh has been absconding since the incident, the said adding that police are investigating the matter from all angles.
