Man booked for chopping off wife's nose in Kanpur

A man was booked for allegedly chopping off his wife's nose, following a quarrel, in Chandipur village in Naubasta area here, police said today.
The incident occurred yesterday when the accused Sanjay Sahu had a fight with his 29-year-old wife Asha, and started assaulting her, a police spokesperson said.
The accused's friend Manish who was also present in the house, then grabbed the victim, after which Sanjay attacked her with a knife and cut off her nose, he said.
Neighbours who rushed to the place on hearing the victim's cries caught Manish and handed him over to the police, the spokesman said, adding Sanjay managed to flee.

Asha was admitted to a hospital where her condition is stated to be out of danger.
A case has been registered in this connection and efforts are on to nab the accused, police said.
