Man consumes poison after being summoned by police

A man, who was summoned by local police today for questioning in connection with assaulting his wife, died after he allegedly consumed poison.
The 34-year-old man had thrashed his wife in an inebriated state on May 26 following which she was admitted to hospital, police said.
Police had summoned both to the Sankari station near here today and before coming, the man had allegedly taken poison and vomited in the police station, sources said.
Though he was rushed to hospital, he was declared brought dead, police said.
Police had registered a case against him for assaulting his wife.
