MCPI leader Jagjit Singh Lyalpuri passes away

A prominent Left leader and secretary general of the Marxist Communist Party of India (MCPI) Jagjit Singh Lyalpuri passed away here this evening.
He was 96 and is survived by three sons, family sources said.
Lyalpuri was actively involved in the activities of the Kisan Sabha and trade union movements and was a member of the Central Executive Committee of CPI in 1964, as well as general secretary of the United All India Kisan Sabha.
He was one of the founders of CPI(M) from which he resigned in 1985.
