College and Hospital (PMCH) was crushed to death when a tree located within the campus fell over him today.
PMCH Superintendent Dr Lakhindra Prasad said the incident happened in the morning and the deceased person has been identified as Rajendra Ram working with the Microbiology department.
"Ram was standing under the shade of the tree to escape the blazing sun, when the old and gigantic tree collapsed and got uprooted over him. He was crushed by the massive weight of the tree trunk and died," said Prasad.
There was no rain or high velocity wind when the incident happened. Prasad said the tree was an old one and could have got uprooted as the ground was wet after heavy rainfall a couple of days back.
