As per a complaint filed by Atul Mathur, he booked a plot in a project by a construction company owned by Sanjay Yadav at sector-16A here through an agent.
Atul kept paying the money in instalments for the project and till March 2014, he had paid an amount of Rs 6.7 lakhs when the builder came to know that residential plots were not allowed at the proposed site in Mujhedi near Ballabgarh, they said.
Since the project was scrapped, Atul asked for a refund of the money already paid.
Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case under section 420, 406 and 120B of the IPC.
Further investigation is on, police said.
