Man-eating leopard shot dead

The wild cat, which had been declared a man-eater by the forest department after it devoured a man in Ankeshwar area of the district recently, was shot dead last night, they said.

On July 16, panic gripped Ankeshwar area after the feline attacked the man and dragged him to the nearby jungles and left his half-eaten body there.

Following protests from villagers, the forest department had set up a snare to trap the leopard.
