C Rama Krishna, booked under section 70-B of Hyderabad City Police Act and section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC by the Gopalpuram police, was produced before a court in Secunderabad which convicted him and awarded him two-day simple imprisonment. He was then taken to jail.
Rama Krishna had assaulted his wife on November 7 on the roadside after quarrelling with her for sending him a legal notice seeking divorce.
"Earlier also a petty case had been lodged against him for beating the wife and fine had been imposed. He was then counselled and granted bail," a police official said.
