The accused Balu Meena went to his mother-in-law's house last night and hit her with an axe. When his wife Kesar (25) came to rescue her mother Dhapudi Devi Meena, he hit her also, they said.
Police said Meena had a heated argument with his wife and mother-in-law earlier that day, following which he attacked them.
The mother-in-law's body was found this morning by their neighbours. Kesar has been admitted to a district hospital, where her condition is stated to be stable, they said.
