Man held for possessing explosive materials without papers

A large quantity of gelatin sticks, claimed to be meant for digging well, was today seized and a two-wheeler rider arrested for carrying them without valid documents near neighbouring Tirupur, police said.
Police took into custody Balakrishnan of Vallakundapuram in Tirupur district after they found 381 gelatin sticks and 15 detonators in his two-wheeler during a routine vehicle check near Thipalapatti.
During preliminary inquiry, he told police that the explosives were being taken for blasting rocks during digging of well.
