A 30-year-old man, who rebuked his drunken neighbours for causing nuisance in the neighbourhood late at night, was stabbed to death at Dasna village in southwest Delhi, police said today.
According to the police, the incident was reported at around 12.40 AM on the intervening night between yesterday and today. The deceased, Rajender was a skilled labourer who lived in a dormitory with five others. Other labourers living in the neighbouring dormitory allegedly got drunk last night and created nuisance in the locality.
A group of locals, comprising mostly of women, approached Rajender and asked him to control the menace as they had known him for a long time. Rajender went to the neighbouring dormitory and rebuked two youths, which erupted into an altercation.
The youths, identified as Jagannath (24) and Mohan (25), allegedly stabbed Rajender and fled the scene before the locals could stop them.
When a police team rushed to the spot, they found Rajender lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
"A case was registered immediately. The accused duo were later tracked down and arrested," said DCP (southwest) R A Sanjeev.
Jagannath and Mohan, both natives of Bulandshahr in UP, worked as unskilled labourers in nearby construction sites. They lived in a dormitory with four other labourers and all of them were reported to be in an inebriated state last night, said an official.
