Man kills wife, then consumes poison

A man belonging to Gorkha community allegedly killed his Mizo wife by burning her and later tried to commit suicide by consuming poison near Serkhan village in Kolasib district bordering Assam, police said.
The Gorkha, known to the villagers as Limbu, confessed to have torched his wife Zovi on Friday night and keeping her body inside the hut near a barn where the couple was living.
Limbu reportedly consumed poison late last night, the police said, adding that he was admitted and treated at a rural hospital in nearby Lungdai village where his condition was stated to be stable.
