Man sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in rape case

A court here today awarded a man a jail term of 10 years after finding him guilty of rape committed four years ago.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Brajkishore Kumar Malviya also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on Subodh Kumar, failing which he would have to serve an additional two years in jail.
Kumar had committed the crime on the day of Saraswati Puja in 2013 when he visited his neighbour's house at Karwari and raped the girl on finding her alone there.
He had continued to maintain physical relations with the victim by promising to marry her, but reneged after she became pregnant.

The girl later lodged a case against Kumar who was arrested.
