"It will be great for Indian football fans. The team toured Asia recently and maybe sometime could come to India as well," he told reporters at the "Airtel Rising stars" talent hunt event here.

Robson said he thinks that India is one of the fastest growing fan bases for Manchester United and initiatives such as "Airtel Rising Stars" talent hunt could be beneficial in the long run.

"India is a big country and has a large potential for soccer what with millions of Manchester United fans here," he added.

A total of 52 footballers will undergo a coaching camp and 12 out of them will be selected for training at Old Trafford at the end of the Airtel Rising Stars talent hunt programme, Robson said.

Under the programme, young footballers will gain experience and the opportunity of training at Old Trafford for a week, Robson said adding that one cannot learn football skills in a short period.

Asked why they should not also float a professionl team, Airtel's Global Director Bharat Bambawale, said "Right now we are focusing on the grass roots. It is a good idea and we will explore that possibiliy in future."
