Man wanted in 3 states lands in police net

A man wanted by the police of three states and carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head was arrested here along with an associate during a surprise check.
According to police, Shamim, who is a post-graduate in Urdu, was last evening arrested along with one Umar on Mathura Madora Kaccha road in the Goverdhan police station area.
CO RK Gautam said that a team from Goverdhan police station was conducting vehicle checks when a car came speeding through whose occupants started firing at the police personnel. The policemen retaliated and managed to prevent the vehicle from slipping past and arrested the duo.

"Shamim is wanted in 24 cases of murder, loot, dacoity, extortion, etc.
"One country-made pistol of .12 bore along with two others of .315 bore besides 14 live cartridges and an Innova car of his associate were seized from them," SSP Rakesh Singh told reporters today.
A resident of Dauseras village in the Goverdhan area, Shamim, police sources said, entered the world of crime in 2004, when he murdered the assailant of his father in a revenge attack. He is thereafter alleged to have committed a number of crimes.

"Of the Rs 50,000 reward, Rs 30,000 is from Rajasthan government, Rs 15,000 from UP government and Rs 5,000 from Haryana government," the SSP said, adding that he had been absconding ever since his release on bail in Rajasthan.

His associate, identified as one Umar Khan of Gantholi village in Mathura district, too, was arrested.
"A post-graduate in Urdu language, Shamim's latest crime in his home district is the murder of two persons in Dauseras village in order to terrorise the villagers as his wife was contesting the gram pradhan elections. His wife lost the election," the SSP added.
