Singh was speaking at the launch of a book, Karan Singh Jammu and Kashmir (1949-1967)', at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) here.
The first copy of the book was presented by former chief justice T S Thakur to Singh.
(The problems of) Jammu and Kashmir is a complex subject...There cannot be a lasting solution to the problem of Jammu and Kashmir unless the equitable sharing of power and developments of all the three regions of the state -- Kashmir, Ladakh and Jammu --is attended to, the senior Congress said.
He said the book was an important book on an important subject and deals with the history of Jammu and Kashmir from 1949 to 1967.
He said it also history of important role played by Karan Singh, the son of the last ruler of the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh, in shaping the events and history of Jammu and Kashmir in its multi-facet aspect.
Today is Karan Singh's birthday.
