Seven CRPF personnel were injured, two of them critically, when Maoists blew up a mini-bus carrying them in Gaya district this evening.
Bihar Director General of Police P K Thakur said the Maoist ultras had planted a landmine on the route on which the police and paramilitary forces were moving in Imamganj-Dumaria area during an anti-naxal operation.
"A CRPF mini-bus came over the landmine as it exploded. Two of the seven personnel are critical. All the injured have been brought to a Primary Health Centre in Dumaria in the district. We are trying to move the injured to Gaya town now. Additional forces have been rushed to the area," Thakur said.
CRPF Deputy Inspector General Chiranjeev Prasad said the incident happened near a place called Nandai.
The vehicle was occupied by jawans of CoBRA battalion of CRPF, engaged in anti-Maoist operations in the state.
"There was heavy force mobilisation in the wake of an encounter in the vicinity yesterday. The force moving through the area also came under fire from the Maoists. Senior officials are taking stock of the situation," Prasad said.
