Marginal dip in temperatures in Odisha, nor'wester brings

Marginal dip in temperature in many areas coupled with a nor'wester brought some respite from the gruelling heat in Odisha today, even as Angul was the hottest place in the state at 43.1 degrees Celsius.
Despite drop in temperatures at many areas, the mercury breached the 40-degree mark in at least a dozen places, the local MeT office said.
Malkangiri was a close second to Angul recording 42.2 degrees Celsius, while it was 41.8 degrees Celsius in Balangir, 41.6 degrees Celsius in Jharsuguda, 41 degrees Celsius in both Titlagarh and Sonepur.
Both Sambalpur and Hirakud recorded a maximum temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius, while it was 40.2 degrees Celsius in both Bhawanipatna and Phulbani, 40.1 degrees Celsius in Talcher and 40 degrees Celsius in Keonjhargarh.

The maximum temperature in Bhubaneswar dropped to 35.8 degrees Celsius from 38.2 degrees Celsius recorded yesterday, while in Cuttack the mercury fell to 35.6 degrees Celsius from 37.5 degrees Celsius yesterday, the local MeT office said.
Sunstroke has claimed at least three lives in the state this summer so far with casualties reported from Bargarh, Angul and Balangir districts, the Special Relief Commissioner's office had said.
