Prices of masoor and malka drifted by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today following slackened demand from retailers.
However, gram and its dal edges up on scattered demand.
Traders said sluggish demand from retailers against adequate stocks on increased supplies mainly kept pressure on masoor and malka prices.
Meanwhile, amid production concerns due to back-to-back drought, the government has issued a tender for importing 5,000 tonnes of pigeon peas (tur) to boost domestic supply and control prices.
This is the second tender floated by state-owned MMTC this month. The earlier one was for import of a similar quantity of tur for delivery in February-March.
In the national capital, masoor small and bold remained under selling pressure and shed another Rs 50 each to Rs 4,950-5,550 and Rs 5,000-5,600 per quintal respectively. Its dal local and best quality followed suit and traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 5,950-6,450 and Rs 6,050-6,550 per quintal, respectively.
Malka local and best quality also eased by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,350-6,850 and Rs 6,450-6,850 per quintal respectively.
On the other hand, gram edges up by Rs 25 to Rs 4,825-5,225, while its dal local and best quality were up by Rs 50 each to Rs 5,050-5,350 and Rs 5,250-5,550 per quintal respectively.
