Massive mandate in Tripura will boost Left movement: Yechuri

CPI-M Politburo member Sitaram Yechuri today said the massive mandate for the Left Front in the February 14 elections in Tripura would boost the Left movement in the country.
"It (Front) has brought qualitative impact on the people's lives for which the Left Front got a massive mandate. Definitely, it will boost the Left movement in the country," Yechuri told reporters.
"Tripura is a most peaceful state now after it contained insurgency and it is the most development oriented state in the entire northeastern region as well as in the country," he said.
The Left Front first came to power in Tripura in 1978 with Nripen Chakraborty as the chief minister.

The Left Front-ruled the state for two consecutive terms. In 1988, Congress-Tripura Upajati Juba Samity alliance came to power and ruled till 1993.
The third Left Front government came into power in 1993 with legendary tribal leader Dasharath Deb as the chief minister. The next Left Front government was formed in 1998 with Manik Sarkar as the chief minister.
This is the seventh LF government in the state and the fifth consecutive one.
