"Some parents of the students, who have been listed for admission to the MBBS course under 50 per cent government quota, met me today and I was apprised of the matter and the representatives of the college management have been called for talks with the Secretary (Health)," Chief secretary V C Pharka said.
The college management, which is charging Rs 5 lakh per year for the seats under government quota as against Rs 50,000 charged by three government medical colleges in the state, has requested for a further hike in the fee.
Out of 150 MBBS seats, 75 seats under government quota and 75 seats including 13 NRI seats under Management quota are to be filled on the basis of NEET merit, the counselling for which was done by Himachal Pradesh University but the college has refused to admit the students.
The parents of the students, seeking admission in the private college, have been left in the lurch and they have approached the HP Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission and sought its intervention.
