MCA yet to clear dues worth Rs 3.60 cr to Mumbai Police: RTI

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has not cleared a fees of Rs 3.60 crore to the Mumbai Police for providing security and bandobast during ICC World Twenty20 matches played here, an RTI query has revealed.
RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought information from Mumbai Police last month about details of security provided during matches to MCA and its charges since January 1, 2011, onwards.
The Public Information Officer and Assistant Police Commissioner (co-ordination) Ramesh Ghadavale provided the information, compiled by the Bandobast Division, stating that during the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in 2016, six matches were played in Mumbai for which Rs 60 lakh per match was charged, amounting to Rs 3.60 crore, which is still due to be paid by MCA.

These matches were played between March 10 and March 31 and Mumbai Police had deployed its 3,756 personnel on the bandobast, according to the reply received via the RTI query.
Mumbai Police spokesperson Ashok Dhudhe said the process to recover the dues is under consideration.
According to sources in the MCA, the cricket body recently received the bills and action will be taken only after going through them.
Prior to this, in 2011 World Cup matches, MCA paid Rs 2.6 crore to the police department for providing security in four matches, according to the RTI.
