Chennai Press Club Joint Secretary Bharathithamizhan said the "horrifying incident" has shocked the entire country, once again raising the issue of safety of women.
"We demand the Maharashtra government to take strong and immediate action against the culprits who are responsible for this barbarous crime," he said in a statement.
Condemning the incident, Tamil Nadu Press Photographers' Association announced staging a protest here tomorrow to condemn the gangrape.
Association president K Pichumani demanded that the accused be punished as per law and sought suitable action to ensure safety of working journalists in general and women photographers in particular so that they can perform their professional responsibilities "without fear or favour."
