A population of over 21 lakh in Meghalaya would stand to benefit from the scheme which was promulgated by President Pranab Mukherjee on July 5.
"We want to maintain a strong relationship between our organisations and the state governments for better coordination and facilitation of the scheme," Faliero said.
During a meeting with state party leaders, Faleiro briefed them on the pros and cons of the scheme and sought coordination from them to make the scheme successful.
"We have asked the department to complete the process of identifying the beneficiaries within 60 days," he said.
Under the scheme, the Chief Minister said beneficiaries were legally entitled to get 5 kg of rice at Rs 3 per kg.
The Chief Minister also said that ration cards would be issued in the name of the female head of the family which has been fixed to be completed in another 60 days.
