Mentha oil prices fell 1.57 per cent to Rs 865 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions amid sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
Besides, adequate stocks in the physical markets on increased arrivals from producing regions put pressure on mentha oil.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in current month fell Rs 13.80, or 1.57 per cent, to Rs 865 per kg in a business turnover of 422 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in May eased Rs 13, or 1.46 per cent, to Rs 876 per kg in 360 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators due to sluggish demand from consuming industries at the spot market against increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pulled down mentha oil prices.
