Mentha oil prices edged up 0.16 per cent to Rs 918.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators went about creating positions, driven by a decline in supplies from producing belts against pick-up in demand from consuming industries.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May edged up by Rs 1.50, or 0.16 per cent, to Rs 918.10 per kg in a business turnover of 88 lots.

The June contract added Rs 1.30, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 932.30 per kg in 359 lots.

Marketmen said speculators built up fresh positions after pick-up in demand from consuming industries against restricted arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, which mainly led to the rise in mentha oil prices.
