Temperatures maintained an upward trend for the second day today in several parts of north India after a marginal dip a few days back brought relief from the heatwave sweeping the region.
Hot and humid weather persisted in the national capital causing discomfort to people on the weekend with the day temperature remaining close to the 40 degrees Celsius mark.
Humidity levels oscillated between 45 and 71 per cent while a high of 39.6 degrees Celsius and a low of 39 degrees Celsius were recorded in Delhi, a Met official said.
No rain was reported in the city during the day, a MeT official said.
Temperatures in Punjab and Haryana showed an upward trend as maximum temperatures in both the states hovered around the 40 degree Celsius mark.
Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 39 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal, a Met report said.
In Haryana, Hisar braved a hot day at 41.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, while Ambala registered 39.1 degrees Celsius followed by Bhiwani 38.8 and Narnaul 37.5 degrees Celsius.
