Mercury soaring in Rajasthan, Churu records 40.9 deg C

Mercury continued to soar in Rajasthan with Churu being the hottest city in the state as mercury hit a high of 40.9 degrees Celsius, 0.4 notches above yesterday's maximum, a Met report said.
Western districts of Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Barmer continued to reel under intense heat conditions where mercury ranged between 38.4 and 39.7 degrees Celsius, the report said.
In other places in the state, the maximum temperatures ranged between 34.4 and 38 degrees Celsius, according to the report.
Jaipur recorded slightly lower temperature at 37.8 degrees Celsius as compared to yesterday's 38.9 degrees Celsius.
The MeT department has predicted similar weather conditions in the state in the next 48 hours.
