'Meritorious U'khand board students to get laptops this year'

Uttarakhand government today asked officials to ensure implementation of the scheme for distribution of laptops among meritorious college students before the end of this year.
Issuing instructions to this effect at a meeting here, Chief Secretary N Ravishankar said all departments concerned should prepare their supplementary budgets needed for the launch of the scheme this year, an official release here said.
The state cabinet had earlier decided to provide laptops to all students of Uttarakhand Board who secure 80 per cent marks in their intermediate examination.
It had also decided to provide the facility to all students securing 70 per cent marks in government-run higher education institutes imparting agricultural, technological and medical training.
