A blaze was seen near the outer wall surrounding the magazine depot of PXE after which fire brigades from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) and PXE were immediately rushed to the spot and controlled it before it could spread, official sources said.
The dry grass near the wall protecting the depot might have caught fire, they said, adding, the fire was put off within 30 minutes.
There is absolutely no danger to the depot in view of a
very high level of safety and security measures undertaken, said a defence official.
Stating "we are, however, examining the incident seriously", he said, the cause of the fire is yet to ascertained.
