Minor tries to extort money from a tv actress, apprehended

A 16-year-old boy was apprehended today for allegedly hacking email and other personal social networking website accounts, blackmailing and demanding money from a television actress, police said.
The boy was apprehended from suburban Dahisar area by a team from Banguar Nagar police station, a Mumbai police official said.
On December 25, the victim, a small-time tv actress, had lodged an extortion complaint. In her complaint she stated that her email and other personal accounts on social networking websites were hacked and the juvenile delinquent had sent her private photos on 'Whatsapp', he said.
The juvenile delinquent had also allegedly threatened the victim on phone that she should pay him Rs five lakh else he would make her private photos public by uploading it on the social networking sites, police said.
A team led by police inspector Deepak Phatangare traced the juvenile delinquent and recovered a mobile, a SIM card and other electronic materials from his possession.
Police also said during initial investigations, it was revealed that the juvenile delinquent had allegedly targeted three to four small time TV actresses using similar modus operandi.
However, he hasn't been able to extort money from any of them. Investigations are underway, police said.
