"I always believe that miracles can happen," Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said Thursday when asked about the medical condition of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Rane, while responding to questions regarding Parrikar's health at a press conference here, said he was not the right person to talk on the issue as the prerogative was that of his family.

Parrikar, 62, is suffering from a pancreatic ailment and was admitted for several days in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

He was shifted to his residence at Dona Paula near here over a week back.

"Only the family members of the chief minister can give information about his health condition. It is their prerogative and not mine. I think we should not discuss this in a press conference," Rane said in response to a question.

"Parrikar is under the best care. He is being monitored by doctors from AIIMS and from the USA. At this stage, it is the prerogative of the family.... We should allow them to decide (on sharing health update of the CM)," Rane said.

The minister, however, went on to add, "Let me be very frank. Many a time people get better by defying medical science. So let us just hope and pray".

To another question, Rane said, "There is no question of new CM."
