Ramendra Narayan Mishra (47) went missing on Saturday from near his house at 80 Feet Road, while returning from a religious function. A missing complaint was filed by his relatives at the Nazirabad police station.
At around 9 AM police found Mishra's body lying on the terrace of a private apartment, DIG Kanpur police Amitabh Yash said.
According to Mishra's brother, there was a feud with another lawyer over a plot of land and both had arguments over the issue on many occasions, police sources said.
One of Mishra's female friends, whose name had cropped up during interrogation, has been arrested, they said.
Mishra was a former vice-president of the Kanpur Bar Association. On hearing the news of his death, fellow lawyers protested at the incident site.
The body has been sent for post-mortem.
