The Payakaraopeta police has registered a case against Payakaraopeta Telugu Desam Party MLA V Anitha and four others for allegedly thrashing a teacher of a private school, Regapalli Rama Rao, with footwear.
Payakaraopeta police sub-inspector Ch Harikrishna said that based on Rama Rao's complaint, cases were registered against MLA V Anitha and four others under Section 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) Section 323 (punishment for voluntary causing hurt) and Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
Though the incident of assaulting Rama Rao happened on December 10, it came to light only after Rama Rao lodged a complaint at Payakaraopeta police station and made the issue public.
According to the police, Rama Rao who teaches in a private school at Mangapuram village lodged a complaint, stating that the MLA had called him to her office and assaulted him with the help of her supporters on December 10.
Rama Rao, along with principal of the school were summoned by the MLA and threatened first after which the MLA allegedly thrashed Rama Rao with her chappal and later her supporters also assaulted him.
The police said that the MLA too has filed a complaint against Rama Rao stating that on December 10, Rao allegedly verbally abused her under the influence of alcohol.
The police has also registered a case against Rama Rao under Section 354 (A) of the Indian Penal Code, for assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
The police sub-inspector said that Rama Rao's complaint was a cross complaint against the case filed by the MLA and an investigation is on.
Sources said that Rama Rao is also a member of the TDP and he has allegedly been trying to tarnish the MLA's image by holding meetings against her.
