Yechury pointed out that though Parliament was in session, Modi was making policy announcements outside it and claimed that demonetisation has pushed the country to a financial anarchy.
"The BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrogance is responsible for the deadlock in Parliament. Why is he shying away from Parliament? What is stopping him from making a speech in Parliament?" he said while addressing a rally.
Yechury, however, noted that the Left and other opposition parties, unlike TMC, never demanded a rollback of the decision as it would lead to a greater economic problems.
Mocking at Mamata Banerjee's campaign against demonetisation, he said, "Those who themselves are corrupt can't talk big about fighting black money."
"We have seen who have siphoned off the money in the Saradha scam and those who have taken bribes on camera in Narada sting. Those who themselves are accused of stashing black money can never be serious about fighting it," he said.
CPI-M politburo member and MP Md Salim accused the BJP and the TMC of trying to mix politics with religion in West Bengal.
"She stayed at Nabanna after the Army was deployed in toll plazas. But she didn't stay there when communal riots took place in Bengal after the Durga Puja," Salim said while addressing the rally condemning the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992.
Stating that CPI-M stood by the Army, he said, "It is a well know drill of the Army. They conduct this exercise every year. This is nothing new. Even her officers knew of this drill.
