Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Manikrao Thakre today dismissed any "wave" in favour of BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi and said his speeches against Congress are indeed "helping" the alliance.
"His (Modi's) speeches are not acceptable to people in the state because this is the land of reformers like Shahu (Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj), (Jyotiba) Phuley, and (Babasaheb) Ambedkar," Thakre said.
"Modi is addressing more meetings and (making) more hate speeches (against Congress)...They are indeed helpful to us," Thakre told reporters.
He said Congress-NCP alliance will win a total of 35 out of 48 seats in upcoming elections. "We will win seven seats in Vidarbha region," he claimed.
The MPCC president also denied reports of factionalism in Congress party.
