Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Captain Amarinder Singh today said that Moga will play a decisive role in ushering a political change in the state. He said, people of Moga had got a golden chance to set the trend by defeating the Akalis in the ensuing byelection scheduled to be held on February 23. Addressing a series of public meetings in different villages including Charrike and Malian, falling under the Moga assembly segment, he said, once the Akalis get defeated in Moga, it will set the trend for the decimation of the Akali Dal and the outcome will be seen in the parliamentary elections. "Byelections have usually been trendsetters and I am sure Moga is going to be one such trend setter in Punjab", he said, adding, the Congress was going to repeat the history the way it defeated the ruling Akalis in 1998 Adampur byelection. "Let the Akalis not take it for granted that they are going to be there for four years", Capt Amarinder said, while addressing a public meeting in village Charrike. Appealing to people to vote for the Congress, he told them that they must not think that by voting for the Congress they may not get any benefits since it was the Akali government in the state.
