Monster India to use database for funding startups

Job portal Monster has launched #MakeIndiaWork initiative under which it will use its database to crowd source funds for entrepreneurial ventures with an aim to further boost the startup ecosystem in the country.
'#MakeIndiaWork', a central hub will bring together startups, job seekers, investors, incubators and mentors, and will provide opportunity to the startups for crowdsourcing of their ventures from registered Monster job seekers.
The platform has more than 40,000 job seekers registered as well as 150 startups across sectors such as IT, FMCG, manufacturing and e-commerce among others.
Some of the mentors on-board #MakeIndiaWork include Maheshwer Peri, Chairman & Founder, Careers360.Com; Alok Kejriwal, Founder - 2win Group; Arunachalam Muruganantham CEO, Jayaashree Industries; Vishal Gondal - CEO GOQii.
"The digital revolution coupled with the startup evolution has played a key role in transforming India's reputation as the hotbed of the next big ideas," Monster India MD, Sanjay Modi said.
This initiative will also be gradually launched in other global markets, a company release said.
Modi further said that "we have established a holistic ecosystem that would potentially boost entrepreneurial success, through a potent mix of hiring and jobs, funding opportunities and knowledge, as well as hand-holding from experts and mentors."
India has witnessed a remarkable growth of startups, from 3,100 startups in 2014, they are projected to be more than 11,500 by 2020.
