He said his mother was not happy when he spoke at a recent rally about her strong emotions after she could not cast her vote on the said bill due to poor health.
"She called me up later and told me to share his story and not hers if I had to. She said she did not feel good about it," Rahul said.
"I will not go until the bill is passed," Rahul quoted his mother as having said despite being taken ill in Parliament on the day the bill came up for voting.
"I have fought this battle for years. I will not go without pushing the button (casting the vote)," Rahul further quoted the Congress chief as having said.
Rahul said that he had felt very angry at the time that his mother was not going to a doctor despite being ill and was instead insisting on staying on in the House.
"When I asked her what is this, she said 'Rahul I had fought for this bill. I wanted to push the button (cast the vote) but could not do so'," he had told the gathering in the poll-bound state.
After much delay and uncertainty, the Food Security Bill was passed by Lok Sabha on August 26.
The Congress President, who was the main force behind the bill, had to leave the House at around 8.15 P.M. On that day ahead of the vote on it.
