Madhya Pradesh Advocate General P K Kaurav resigned Wednesday following the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) defeat in the Assembly elections.

Kaurav sent his resignation to the Principal Secretary, Law Department, official sources said.

"I have resigned from the post of advocate general following the change of government in the state," he said in the letter.

Kaurav had been appointed as advocate general by the BJP government in June 2017.
