The incident took place at Sadli village under the Chandpur police station limits, Superintendent of Police (SP) Vipul Shrivastava said.
"The incident occurred at about 8 yesterday evening when Lalu (28) attacked his father Radhu (56) during a quarrel after the latter asked his son for some money for personal expenses," Shrivastava said.
Lalu had recently returned from Gujarat where he was working as a labourer, the SP said.
The dispute started when Radhu asked for some of the money his son had earned in Gujarat, he said.
Lalu absconded after the incident, he said, adding that further probe was on.
