If there was any inspiration, Bhatt said, it would be from the 1957 Ashok Kumar starrer that his director father Nanabhai Bhatt had made.
Bhatt said Vikram came up with the idea right after the success of "Raaz 3" as he wanted to make it in 3D.
"Prior to 'Mr India' there was 'Mr X' made by my father in 1957. Prior to that, 'Mr X' was made by Vijay Bhatt, Vikram Bhatt's grandfather in 1937 and prior to that there was the 'The Invisible Man' in 1933. The narrative of invisible man has been there since decades," Bhatt told PTI.
Hashmi, who plays a righteous ATS officer in the movie, echoed Bhatt saying the movie was entirely a creation of director Vikram's mind.
The actor, however, remembers being impressed with the Shekhar Kapur's creation.
"I wanted to get that watch which he (Anil Kapoor) presses and turns invisible in 'Mr India'," he said.
Produced by Bhatt's Vishesh Films and presented by Fox Star Studios, "Mr X" releases on April 17.
