MSME Ministry today cautioned the public against falling prey to middlemen posing as authorized agency for setting up industries with government assistance under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
"Some people misguide others by saying they will get their loan sanctioned under PMEGP. The advertisement is to caution people not to fall prey to this," MSME Secretary Anup K Pujari said.
"It is brought to the notice of the general public that certain unscrupulous agencies are fraudulently misrepresenting the public through advertisement in the newspapers and through Internet that they are the authorized agency/franchise for setting up industries/business/micro units with government assistance under the PMEGP," the advertisement cautioned.
It further pointed out that the modus operandi of such individuals/agencies is to approach prospective entrepreneurs by emails/letters/phones with promises of sanction of projects under PMEGP scheme and issuing fake sanction letter on behalf of KVIC, and also ask the entrepreneurs to deposit some money in specified bank accounts or filing online application under PMEGP on behalf of prospective entrepreneurs.
"It is clarified that KVIC has not engaged any private party/agency/middlemen/franchise etc for promoting or sanctioning of PMEGP projects or any financial assistance under PMEGP programme or Make in India and any potential entrepreneurs/beneficiaries dealing with such agency shall be doing so at their own risk and consequences," the MSME Ministry said in the advertisement.
