Identifying multiplicity of authorities as "biggest hurdle" in growth of industries in the city, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her government will do everything possible to provide a better investor-friendly environment in the national capital.
She said her government has taken over maintenance of a number of industrial estates from municipal corporations and Delhi Development Authority to ensure better environment for industrial growth.
She was speaking at an interactive session in PHD Chamber of Commerce here.
"Multiplicity of authorities has been the biggest hurdle. It is affecting industrial growth. We will do everything possible to remove hurdles for investment and growth of clean industries," she said.
Delhi has 29 industrial estates whose maintenance has been handed over to Delhi government's premier infrastructure development agency DSIIDC (Delhi State Industrial And Infrastructure Development Corporation).
The MCD and the DDA, which were running some of the industrial estates, have handed over administrative control of the estates to DSIIDC.
Dikshit said a committee, having members from both government and the industry chamber, would be set up soon to remove the bottlenecks for better industrial growth.
"The committee can have a meeting with me regularly to find solutions to the problems facing the sector," she said, admitting poor basic infrastructure in the industrial estates.
"The Delhi Chief Minister does not have powers that the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have. There is a huge multiplicity of authorities. These are the real challenges," she said.
