The general secretary of the AITI, Ayub Khan said that instead of presenting a charter of demands based on "realistic socio-economic programmes" such Muslim parties and leaders are themselves "pushing their community into the pit of vote bank politics "
Khan whose organisation has functioning branches in 18 states of the country today told newspersons that its National Executive will meet in New Delhi on March 15 to prepare a 'National Charter' for placing before different political parties.
The country should also know that there are instances where funds meant for minority concentrated districts are being wrongfully used in non minority districts, he claimed.
Khan alleged that the net result of this "bungled policy implementation was that while the whole country is carrying a false impression that minorities are being aided through a plethora of government schemes, not more than thirty per cent of these funds are reaching the targeted beneficiaries."
"We want the truth to come out regarding such paper schemes and the manner in which the state government officials try to derail such schemes at the grass root level," Khan said.
He made it clear that his organisation was not bargaining for "party tickets but are only aiming to highlight certain burning issues of the minorities before different political parties"
Khan said,"We will place this issue before different political parties and will then await their response before bringing this issue in the public domain.
