Mustard seed prices spurted by 2.55 per cent to Rs 3,986 per quintal in futures trade as traders built additional bets, backed by a strong trend at the spot market on firming demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in far-month December jumped by Rs 99, or 2.55 per cent, to Rs 3,986 per quintal with an open interest of 34,160 lots.
On similar lines, delivery for November contracts gained Rs 40, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 3,990 per quintal in 5,880 lots.
Marketmen said wider exposure by participants, taking positive cues from the spot market, mainly accounted for the rise in mustard seed prices.
