A man has been booked for allegedly duping 10 victims of the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots on the pretext of providing them government jobs, police said today.
An FIR in this regard was registered against Jamshed at Shapur police station yesterday following complaints by 10 riot victims, they said.
According to the complainants, the suspect, a resident of Meerut, took Rs 10 lakh from them in 2014 and assured them government jobs.
The victims had received the money for their rehabilitation after the riots.
They alleged that the man failed to get them the jobs and then refused to return the money, police said.
The police is hunting for the suspect.
