Thuingaleng Muivah, the general secretary of the Naga insurgent group NSCN-IM, has been admitted to a hospital here following complaints of abdominal pain, sources said on Wednesday.
The 84-year-old Naga rebel leader has been admitted to the private hospital Tuesday and the doctors are keeping a close watch on his health condition.
Muivah's treatment is going on, the sources said without disclosing much.
Muivah was the signatory on behalf of the NSCN-IM to a framework agreement with the government in 2015 to end the decades-old Naga insurgency.
The Naga leader's long time associate, the outfit's chairman Isak Chishi Swu, passed away in 2016. S S Khaplang, the leader of NSCN-IM's rival group NSCN-K, too died in 2017, leading to a split in that outfit.
The NSCN-IM has been engaged with peace talks with the interlocutor of the central government since 1997 when it announced a ceasefire agreement after a bloody insurgency movement which started in Nagaland soon after the country's Independence.
