The six-day championship would also be the selection trials to pick the 16-member Indian contingent to play in the World Handball tournament, scheduled later this year, A Saravanan, Secretary General, Tamil Nadu Handball Associaton (TNHBA) told reporters here today.
Reigning champions Haryana and runners-up, Sports Authority of India and six other top positioned teams of last year have confirmed their participation in the tournament being hosted by the city for the first time, he said.
Indian Coach Mahindra Pal, CEO M S Bali, and secretary of Handball Federation of India (HFI),Anandeshwar Pandey will be present to select the Indian team, he said.
